Giving Ash a New Life

Since arriving in Ontario in 2002, the emerald ash borer has destroyed millions of ash trees. While the emerald ash borer continues its destruction, the main strategy has been to remove and destroy all ash trees in the area of an infestation.

The sustainable solution: repurposing infested ash trees into valuable wood products. Ash wood is greatly valued for its strength and elasticity and is often used for hockey sticks, baseball bats, tool handles, and other products that require strength and resilience.

It is important that infected wood is kept close to its original location - which is another reason we source our materials locally. Our efforts will not restore the lost trees but we hope to give them new life and encapsulate their beauty within our designs.
